Apple Hints at Siri Redesign in iOS 27 Through WWDC26 Artwork

Apple appears to have quietly previewed its next major Siri overhaul through the official artwork for WWDC 2026. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the visuals Apple released for the event are a deliberate tease of what Siri will look and behave like in iOS 27.

The WWDC26 poster features a glowing visual effect around the number “26,” and Gurman reports that Siri’s new interface is designed around a similar aesthetic. The effect is said to look most striking in dark mode, which explains why Apple chose a black background for the teaser. When activated, Siri will no longer expand to fill the screen. Instead, it will appear through the Dynamic Island, the pill-shaped cutout at the top of newer iPhone models.

Siri Moves to the Dynamic Island in iOS 27

In the new design, triggering Siri will cause the Dynamic Island to expand and display a prompt that reads “Search or Ask,” along with a glowing cursor. The animation is reportedly similar to the highlight effect seen in the WWDC26 logo. This approach positions Siri as a more persistent and less intrusive part of the interface, rather than an overlay that takes over the display.

This is not Apple’s first attempt to modernize Siri in the AI era. With iOS 18, the company introduced a rainbow edge-lighting effect as part of its Apple Intelligence rollout, but many of the features promised alongside that redesign were delayed. Apple is now rebuilding Siri with a stronger emphasis on generative AI capabilities.

Multi-Turn Conversations, On-Screen Context, and a Standalone App

The upcoming Siri is expected to support ongoing, multi-turn conversations, the ability to combine multiple requests into a single command, and responses that factor in what is currently visible on the user’s screen. Personal context is also expected to play a larger role. Under the hood, Siri will reportedly be powered by new foundation models built on technology from Google’s Gemini.

Apple is also said to be working on a standalone Siri app that will let users revisit past conversations, a feature that brings it closer to how ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini currently work. Alongside this, Apple is reportedly planning to unify Siri and Spotlight search into a single experience, combining voice and text-based queries under one interface instead of keeping them separate.

Apple is expected to officially unveil iOS 27 and the redesigned Siri at the WWDC 2026 keynote on June 8. While the final design could still change before release, the teaser suggests Apple is positioning Siri as a more competitive AI assistant heading into a crowded market.
