Apple iPhone Fold Launch Pushed Back, Here’s the New Timeline

Apple’s first foldable iPhone might arrive later than expected. A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that while Apple could unveil the iPhone Fold alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max this fall, the foldable may not actually go on sale at the same time.

Gurman made the comments during a Bloomberg Q&A session, indicating that customers hoping to get their hands on the iPhone Fold in September 2026 may need to wait a little longer.

To be clear, this isn’t about Apple pulling the plug on the iPhone Fold. The device is still expected to be announced in fall 2026. The catch is that it may ship weeks after the iPhone 18 Pro lineup hits shelves.

Apple has done this before. The iPhone X launched in November 2017, a full two months after the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus went on sale. So a phased release for a brand-new, complex product category wouldn’t be out of character.

Plus Gurman isn’t the only one flagging a delayed ship date. Just last week, Barclays analyst Tim Long suggested the iPhone Fold wouldn’t go on sale until December 2026. Long’s track record on Apple predictions is mixed, but Gurman has a much stronger history of accuracy, which gives this report more weight.

However, its important to keep in mind that Apple has officially not revealed any of the details, so there is a possibility that both could be wrong. And Apple may still be on track to ship everything at once.

What we know about the iPhone Fold so far?

While the cupertino giant has not confirmed any of the details about a foldable iPhone, leaks have been building up steadily. The iPhone Fold is expected to feature a book-style design with a large foldable display that Apple has reportedly engineered to be crease-free something that has reportedly been central to Apple’s entire approach to entering the foldable space.

A recent leak, purportedly from a case manufacturer, shows the device looking like a miniature iPad when unfolded. In its closed state, the iPhone Fold appears shorter and wider than a standard iPhone.

So when will this foldable iPhone arrive is only tim cook knows. But if we go by the pace of all the leaks and rumours that has started to appear on the internet. It looks like we will not have to wait too long to see an iPhone that folds.
