Oakley and Meta have launched their Vanguard smart glasses in India today. Unlike a regular smart glasses, which often target content creators, the Vanguard is built for high endurance athletes and comes with IP67 rating and specialised sensors that integrate directly with Garmin and Strava.
The smart glasses cost ₹52,300 and are available at Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, and select optical retailers across India starting today. The glasses are available in four variants, including Black and White frames paired with Oakley’s signature Prizm 24K, Prizm Road, or Prizm Sapphire lenses.
What’s Inside?

Since it’s an AI-powered glasses, it comes with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), five microphone array, and a high-density battery all packed inside the frame, which weighs just about 66 grams. Here’s the complete spec sheet:
“Athletic Intelligence” and Sensor Integration
The main highlight of this smart glasses is “Athletic Intelligence”. It allows cyclists and runners to sync their Garmin devices with glasses and ask questions like “Hey Meta, what’s my heart rate?” or “What’s my pace?” and receive immediate audio cues without breaking stride to check the watch. Apart from that, the 12 MP camera comes with a new auto-capture feature that uses AI to automatically record clips when the sensors detect a spike in heart rate or a personal record milestone.
India-Specific Features
Here are some special features of the Vanguard smart glasses that are specifically designed for the Indian market:
- UPI Lite Integration: Users can make payments using voice commands like “Hey Meta, scan and pay”.
- Hindi Language Support: The Meta AI assistant now fully supports conversational Hindi.
- Celebrity Voice: Users can opt for Deepika Padukone’s voice for their AI assistant.
Battery and Efficiency
The Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses are said to deliver strong battery performance for athletes, offering up to 9 hours of mixed use like capturing video, audio playback, and AI queries, or 6 hours with continuous music. The included charging case is said to extend total runtime by another 36 hours and provide a quick 50% top-up in just 20 minutes.
